About Us

South Florida Anglers For Everglades Restoration, Inc. (S.A.F.E.R.) was formed on June 12, 2001 at a meeting held in Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Dania Florida.

We have since become a non-profit organization within the State of Florida and have also obtained a tax exempt status with the US Treasury.

Meetings are always held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World back room, 7:30 PM in Dania Florida.

We at S.A.F.E.R. support Everglades restoration.  Anglers for decades have been concerned about our environment.  We believe that the impediment to sheetflow is the levees and not the canals. S.A.F.E.R. feels that if the levees were removed (or partially removed), water would sheetflow overtop of the canals.

A healthy, restored Everglades with its increased connectivity will provide additional spawning, nursery, and foraging habitat for our sportfish and their prey.  This will provide system wide benefits, as well as potentially improve the quality and quantity of sportfish populations.

We want to see "Restoration With Recreation" in mind.  The canals do not need to be filled in to restore the Everglades.  Review the "Points To Make" section for more on this.

This web site is used to keep the angling community informed of what is going on with the Everglades Restoration pertaining to WCA 3 and our recreational rights.  It will keep you updated about upcoming public meetings, S.A.F.E.R. meetings and other S.A.F.E.R. events.  So visit often and keep up to date!!!
